Exercícios: Conditional Sentences (Frases Condicionais)

1. Put the verbs in brackets into the gaps. Form a Conditional sentence – type I. Only use the will-future in the main clauses.

Example: If I __ (to go) to the cinema, I ________ (to watch) an interesting film.

Answer: If I go to the cinema, I will watch an interesting film.

1) If I _____________ (to study), I _____________ (to pass) the exams.
2) If the sun _____________ (to shine), we _____________ (to walk) to the town.
3) If he _____________ (to have) a temperature, he _____________ (to see) the doctor.
4) If my friends _____________ (to come), I _____________ (to be) very happy.
5) If she _____________ (to earn) a lot of money, she _____________ (to fly) to New York.
6) If we _____________ (to travel) to London, we _____________ (to visit) the museums.
7) If you _____________ (to wear) sandals in the mountains, you _____________ (to slip)on the rocks.
8) If Rita _____________ (to forget) her homework, the teacher _____________ (to give)her a low mark.
9) If they _____________ (to go) to the disco, they _____________ (to listen) to loud music.
10) If you _____________ (to wait) a minute, I _____________ (to ask) my parents.

Answers:

1) If I study, I will pass the exams.
2) If the sun shines, we will walk to the town.
3) If he has a temperature, he will see the doctor.
4) If my friends come, I will be very happy.
5) If she earns a lot of money, she will fly to New York.
6) If we travel to London, we will visit the museums.
7) If you wear sandals in the mountains, you will slip on the rocks.
8) If Rita forgets her homework, the teacher will give her a low mark.
9) If they go to the disco, they will listen to loud music.
10) If you wait a minute, I will ask my parents.

 

2.Put the verbs in brackets into the gaps. Form a Conditional sentence – type II.

Example: If I __ (to go) to the cinema, I ________ (to watch) an interesting film.

Answer: If I went to the cinema, I would watch an interesting film.

1) If I _____________ (to come) home earlier, I _____________ (to prepare) dinner.
2) If we _____________ (to live) in Rome, Francesco _____________ (to visit) us.
3) If Tim and Tom _____________ (to be) older, they _____________ (to play) in our hockey team.
4) If Susan _____________ (to study) harder, she _____________ (to be) better at school.
5) If they _____________ (to have) enough money, they _____________ (to buy) a new car.
6) If you _____________ (to do) a paper round, you _____________ (to earn) a little extra money.
7) If Michael _____________ (to get) more pocket money, he _____________ (to ask)Doris out for dinner.
8) If we _____________ (to hurry), we _____________ (to catch) the bus.
9) If it _____________ (to rain), Nina _____________ (to take) an umbrella with her.

1) If I came home earlier, I would prepare dinner.
2) If we lived in Rome, Francesco would visit us.
3) If Tim and Tom were older, they would play in our hockey team.
4) If Susan studied harder, she would be better at school.
5) If they had enough money, they would buy a new car.
6) If you did a paper round, you would earn a little extra money.
7) If Michael got more pocket money, he would ask Doris out for dinner.
8) If we hurried, we would catch the bus.
9) If it rained, Nina would take an umbrella with her.

Answer: If I had gone to the cinema, I would have watched an interesting film.

5) If the teacher _____________ (to explain) the homework, I _____________ (to do) it.

1) If the weather had been nice, they would have played football.

3) If John had learned more words, he would have written a good report.
4) If the boys had taken the bus to school, they would have arrived on time.
5) If the teacher had explained the homework, I would have done it.
6) If they had waited for another 10 minutes, they would have seen the pop star.
7) If the police had come earlier, they would have arrested the burglar.
8) If you had bought fresh green vegetable, your salad would have tasted better.
9) If Alex had asked me, I would have emailed the documents.
10) If he had spoken more slowy, Peggy would have understood him.

    É Camila , vc se passou ai viu ahushauhsu , corrigi tudo e tá certinho , obg pelo exercicio , me ajudou bastante

    Boa noite,
    Gostaria de fazer uma observação sobre as respostas do terceiro exercício. Há três respostas com verbos colocados de forma errada.
    Na de nº4, o primeiro verbo (to take) deveria estar conjugado em passado simples e não em particípio, como é o caso na resposta.
    O mesmo acontece nas questões de número 7 e 10; na 7ª, o verbo deveria ser “came” e não “come”, e na 10ª o certo seria spoke e não spoken.

    Obrigada pela atenção.
